While most of us enjoy everyday life, others are not so lucky. Lonely, hungry and desperate, un- or under-employed, prone to sickness, assault and early death, often seeking solace through drugs and alcohol, they have made the streets their home. And an alarming percentage includes women and children.
Worse, perhaps thousands more “normal” people sway precariously between the two worlds. Abuse, unchecked addiction, job loss, a broken home, illness, or one bad choice may be enough to put them at risk and commence a long downward spiral.
